Biography

Born on November 8, 1926 in the village of Khomutino, Troitsky district, Altai Territory, in a working-class family. Russian. He graduated from grade 4. He worked on the farm "Five-year plan" Kiselevsky district of the Kemerovo region.

In the Red Army and at the front in World War II from November 1943.

Shooter of the 220th Infantry Regiment (4th Infantry Division, 69th Army, 1st Belorussian Front) Private Dmitry Ivanov was wounded in a battle on July 24, 1944 for the settlement Zosinek (16 kilometers southwest of the city of Helm, Poland) but he didn鈥檛 leave the battlefield.

For courage and bravery shown in the battles, Private Ivanov Dmitry Ivanovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree (No. 89690) on August 10, 1944.

On February 8, 1945, Dmitry Ivanov, in a battle near the Frankfurt an der Oder - Reppen (Germany) railway section, detonated an enemy machine gun with grenades with a calculation, and when repulsing an enemy鈥檚 counterattack, he shot down up to ten Nazis from a machine gun.

For courage and bravery shown in battles, Private Ivanov Dmitry Ivanovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree (No. 28265) on March 6, 1945.

During the offensive on the left bank of the Oder River near the village of Klessin (4 kilometers north-east of the city of Lebus, Germany), assistant commander of the small platoon, Corporal Dmitry Ivanov, personally killed several soldiers in hand-to-hand combat.

During the assault on enemy positions, with a platoon, he liquidated two strongly fortified centers of resistance of the enemy, shooting at point blank range up to ten Nazis.

In the battle on March 6, 1945, Corporal Dmitry Ivanov was wounded.

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated May 31, 1945, Corporal Ivanov Dmitry Ivanovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 1st degree (No. 3126) for becoming an accomplished cavalier of the Order of Glory for exemplary fulfillment of command assignments in battles against Nazi invaders.

After the war, he continued to serve in the Armed Forces of the USSR. In 1950, the foreman D.I. Ivanov is discharged. He lived in the city of Kiselevsk, Kemerovo region. He worked at the Athos brick factory. Died March 11, 1995.
