Michael Johnson was born June 4, 1986 in the city of St. Louis , Missouri , was in his family the youngest of four children. When he was ten years old, his father died of a heart attack - this incident had a great influence on him, he began to show aggressiveness and began to fight often. Being athletically built, he played soccer in high school and was seriously involved in wrestling. Later he continued to fight at the university, and became one of the best wrestlers of the country at the student level [1] .

At the preliminary qualifying stage, by unanimous decision, Pablo Garz defeated and was elected to the team of Georges Saint-Pierre . Then he defeated such fighters as Aaron Wilkinson, Alex Cáceres and Nam Fan . In the final decisive match, the show met with Jonathan Brukins - in the first round he had an advantage, but in the second and third he looked worse, as a result of which he was defeated by a unanimous decision [3] [4] [5] .
Having established himself in the TUF, Johnson continued to perform in the largest fighting organization in the world, the Ultimate Fighting Championship . In 2011, he defeated Edward Faaloloto by technical knockout and lost to the surrender to Paul Sass , who used the reverse heel twist on it. This was followed by a series of three victories in a row, Johnson on points won over Shane Roller and Tony Ferguson , and also knocked out Danny Castillo , receiving an award for the best knockout of the evening. The winning streak was interrupted by defeats by Miles Juri and Reza Madadi .
In the period 2013-2015, Michael Johnson made another impressive series of victories, successively sorting out such strong rivals as Joe Lawson , Glayson Thibau , Melvin Gillard and Edson Barbosa . A series of wins was interrupted by Beneil Dariyush , who won against him by a separate decision of the judges. He later lost by unanimous decision to Nate Diaz , but received a bonus for the best fight of the evening.
In 2016, in the first round, he knocked out Dustin Poirier , having received an award for the best performance of the evening, after which he met with the undefeated Russian fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov - as a result of the elbow node that was successfully held in the third round, he was forced to surrender [6] .
