Bogdan Janusz (pseudonym Vasily Karpovich ); 1898 , Lviv [1] - November 5, 1930 , Lviv ) - Polish archaeologist , ethnologist , art critic , publicist , restorer of ancient monuments in the Lviv Voivodeship ( 1921 - 1930 ) and editor of the Wiadomości Konserwatorskie magazine.

Biography
He studied at the gymnasium of Lviv , graduated from 7 classes. He intended to pass the " Maturity Certificate " as an external student . He started earning a living from school, so he could not study at the university . He attended private lectures by Professor Karel Gadachek at the University of Lviv .
Since 1907 he worked at the Shevchenko Museum in Lviv. In the future, I earned a living by “pen”. Before World War I - editor of the publication " Kurjera Lwowskiego ".
In 1923 he was appointed conservative of the historical monuments of the Lviv district.
In 1924, at his own expense, he began to publish the month “ Polish. Wiadomości Konserwatorskie ”, and in 1925 it stopped - for lack of funds.
In 1928, he was for some time the head of the Pokuttya Museum in Stanislavov . In the second half of 1929, due to financial problems, he lost furniture and a library [2]. A schoolboy conducted research on the cemetery in Kukekovo . [3] .
In 1921 - 1925 He was an employee of the Museum of NOSH and the initiator of the Club of Lviv lovers .
He researched the history and architecture of churches in the territory of princely Lviv: St. St. Nicholas Onufria , St. Fridays , the ruined 1776 church of St. Theodore, as well as the Armenian department .
Notes in the Ukrainian language were given under the pseudonym Vasily Karpovich in the journal " Old Ukraine " ( 1924 - 1925 ). He studied wooden construction on the outskirts of Lviv, the Armenian and Greek sights of Lviv and Ternopil , in particular, Przeszłość and zabytki województwa Tarnopolskiego , 1926 - one of the first bona fide regional monographs of Poland [3] , etc.). In 1929, at a meeting of the Polytechnic Society in Lviv, he read a report entitled “Church architecture of the Lviv Middle Ages”. [four]
Due to insoluble problems, in his opinion, he shot himself dead on November 5, 1930 in Lvov [2] . He was buried at Lychakiv Cemetery , field 13 [5] . Through one grave in 1915, the famous historian Kovalishin Franz was buried. Both graves were lost, at the funeral of Bogdan Janusz, a memorial sign was installed by the employees of the Lychakiv Cemetery Museum [6] .

In 1993 , a street in Lviv in the area of Podzamche was named after Bogdan Janusz. [7]
