History

Steam locomotive series L

The monument to the steam locomotive was installed on August 2, 1986 at the Likhaya station, in the village of Likhovsky (since 2005, the microdistrict of the city of Kamensk-Shakhtinsky, Rostov Region) near the Culture House of Railwaymen. The monument is a repaired, painted and installed on an eternal parking lot locomotive of the L series (named after the general designer Lev Sergeyevich Lebedyansky ) under number 2 (L-0002). A steam locomotive stands on rails on a low pedestal and is surrounded by an iron chain on metal poles. It was made at the end of 1945 at the Kolomna diesel locomotive plant named after V.V. Kuybyshev in the Moscow region. The steam locomotive of this series was much more economical than the steam locomotives of the FD and IS series , Joseph Stalin (produced by the Lugansk steam locomotive plant). Its power allowed to drive heavy trains. The steam locomotive was attributed to the locomotive depot of Kochetovka I station [2] .

From 1947 to the 1970s, this steam locomotive operated on the Morozovskaya-Likhaya route. Later, it was replaced by more environmentally friendly diesel and electric locomotives. The monument was unveiled on August 2, 1986 by railway transport veterans P.M. Berkov, A.T. Odininsky and N.V. Yurov. The inscription on the plaque near the steam locomotive is written: "In honor of the selfless work of the railway workers of the Likhovsky branch of the Southeast Railway during the Great Patriotic War and peaceful labor from grateful Likhovites."

In accordance with decision No. 325 of 12/17/92, the monument to the steam locomotive belongs to objects of cultural heritage of regional significance.
