Luke Cage
This African-American superhero was created shortly after the popularization of Blaxploitation films. [1] At Luke Cage, Hero for Hire # 2 (August 1972), Luke meets nurse Claire Temple, who works with Dr. Noir Burstein at his clinic on 42nd Street. [2] Cage was shot by the killers sent by the criminal Rattlesnake and Claire was surprised to find him bruised from bullets. [2] She was subsequently abducted by the Rattlesnake, who was discovered by Luke by his old friend the man who framed Cage for the crime that sent him to prison. Cage frees Claire, but the Rattlesnake is killed by one of his guns. Claire confirms the story of Cage to the police, and the two become romantically involved. In 1973, Claire was surprised to see two grateful clients kissing Luke, but they didn’t spend Christmas Eve together - they were attacked twice by a felon Marley, to whom Luke later obeyed. As Claire and Cage continue to meet, Dr. Burstein — who is partly responsible for getting strength — continues to keep Claire in secret ( Daily Bugle reporter Phil Fox) that Luke escaped from prison. Cage was credited with his involvement in the death of the criminal Lionfaga, but Claire helps him realize that the villain carried him on himself. Finding the secret of Cage, she can not publish it, Fox unites with Luke from prison guards Nemesis Billy Bob Rackham to take revenge on Luke in the abduction of Claire. They kidnapped the wrong woman, the fox is killed, and the police find Claire holding the murder weapon. Luke creates a distraction to talk to Claire in prison, and she tells him that she now knows that he is a fugitive convict. Luke vows to find the real Fox Killer. Rackham is revealed as a murderer, removing Claire, who is reunited with Cage.
In now renamed to Luke Cage Power Man # 18 (April 1974), Luke mourns his former girlfriend Reva Connors, who was killed because of his rivalry with Will Stryker. despite Cage’s conviction that everyone approaching him will die, he and Claire decide to stay together. The relationship has continued for many years, because of this, Claire is often at risk, and by 1976 her choice of profession caused many conflicts between them. Cage was finally acquitted of the crime that he was initially imprisoned, but in the renamed comic book Power Man and Iron Fist # 50 (April 1978), Claire cannot cope with him constantly being in danger, and they part.
Claire and Luke met again in 1982, the first at the crime scene, and then, when she heals the wounds of her friend, the consent of the young. Cage inadvertently insults Claire while she treats his friend, Rafael Scarfe, in 1983. soon after, he decides to give up the fight against crime, because the locals seem ungrateful and mocking to him, but she convinces him how important his work is. later in the series, Claire heals a wounded Iron Fist .
