Biography
1968-1983 - held senior positions from company to division in the USSR Armed Forces;
1983-1985 - Military Advisor in the DRA Infantry Division;
1985-1989 - Officer of the Political Department of the LVO .
1992–1997 - Worked at the Russian State Pedagogical University. A.I. Herzen Head of the military department;
1997—2008 - Dean of the Faculty of Life Safety of the Russian State Pedagogical University. A.I. Herzen
2008—2009 - Vice - Rector for Innovative Development of the Murmansk State Pedagogical University;
2009-2010 - Vice - Rector for Academic Affairs and Innovation Activities of the Smolny Institute;
2012 - 2013 - Professor of the Institute of Special Pedagogy and Psychology at the International University of the Family and Child named after Raoul Wallenberg.
In 2013, during a heart surgery, he has a heart attack that he did not survive. It was the fourth heart attack in his entire life.
Education
In 1979 he graduated from the Military-Political Academy of the Order of Lenin and the October Revolution of the Red Banner of the October Revolution with a degree in Military Pedagogical Social Sciences.
In 2007 he graduated from St. Petersburg State University with a degree in Military Pedagogical Social Sciences.

Scientific and social activities
Leonid Aleksandrovich is the founder of a new scientific and pedagogical direction in the field of life safety, the author of basic research and numerous publications, and a research supervisor of a number of candidate and doctoral theses.
March 1, 1997 - Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences , Professor Leonid Aleksandrovich Mikhailov created and later headed the Faculty of Life Safety, under the general assistance of the Rector of the Russian State Pedagogical University. A.I. Herzen , doctor of pedagogical sciences, professor Gennady Alekseevich Bordovsky , vice-rector of the university doctor of pedagogical sciences, professor Valery Pavlovich Solomin . The faculty enjoys deserved prestige in the system of Russian pedagogical education, is internationally recognized and is the only one that prepares future bachelors and masters of education in the field of life safety. [1] On the basis of the faculty, in 2001, the Student Group for the maintenance of internal order (SEIA) was formed, which assists the university in carrying out activities at the international, Russian, regional and city levels. [2]
Leonid Alexandrovich worked closely with the World Spiritual Institute " Brahma Kumaris ", where international scientific and practical conferences such as: "The World of Enlightenment: Information, Education, Wisdom" [3] , "The Strategy for the Development of Personality - A Step to future ” [4] , etc.
He also advocated tolerance towards HIV-infected people. He raised issues of HIV prevention, reproductive health and forms of youth participation in educational and preventive work. Thanks to innovative technologies introduced to the Faculty of Life Safety, where he was the founder and dean, he organized the interaction between students of universities in different cities and countries in order for students to understand that HIV is also infected people and communication with them only enriches. For example, the first video conference took place in the framework of the Russian-Dutch project The Leonard Aleksandrovich acted as an organizer together with the project coordinators prof. L. P. SIMBIRTSEVA, Ms. Teun VISSER, and a member of the GCC journal A. Vinogradova. Thanks to the fruitful relations with Holland, conferences on HIV were held in different parts of St. Petersburg, where participants from various organizations and structures were involved.
Throughout his career, the teacher has actively advocated for ideas: training, adaptation, tolerance, and the training of specialists in the field of security in order to change the internal relations among the youth towards each other and the younger generation. Instilling in them a sense of security in the society in which they are located, creating all the necessary conditions themselves. [6]
In October 2003, while writing a doctoral dissertation on life safety on the topic: “The concept of organizing the preparation of a teacher of life safety in a modern pedagogical university”, the new term “person of a safe type of behavior” was introduced into the discipline “social emergencies” ( LBTP).
