Biography

Early Years, Family, and Education

He was born on April 13, 1944 in the eco-park Neuhbud ( Los Angeles , California , USA ) in the family of an Italian and Greek woman [14] [15] . When John was two years old, his parents divorced, and at the age of 9, with his elder brother, he began selling Christmas cards and newspapers to support his family [16] [17] .

He grew up in the , where he studied in primary and secondary schools.

When a single mother was unable to support her sons, she sent them to a foster family in East Los Angeles.

In his youth, Degoria was a street gang, but decided to change his life after his school math teacher said that he “ will never succeed in anything ”.

In 1962 he graduated from high school.

In the years 1962-1964 he served in the US Navy on the aircraft carrier " USS Hornet " [18] .
