Mercedes-AMG GT Concept is a concept car of the German brand Mercedes-Benz , presented at the Geneva Motor Show in early March 2017 as part of a comprehensive project to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Mercedes-AMG division [1] . It is the first brand model in the special EQ Power + series [2] and the third completely independently developed product of the Mercedes-AMG division. The concept car is a four-door coupe with a hybrid powertrain [3] , which should compete with models such as the Audi A7 , BMW 6 GranCoupe and Porsche Panamera . According to the British automotive publication Autocar and a number of other media, the production version of the car will go on sale in 2018-2019.

History
Car on display in Geneva, 2017
The conceptual four-door model Mercedes-AMG GT Concept was presented at the beginning of March 2017 at the Geneva Motor Show and the third product of the company, after the SLS AMG and AMG GT sports cars, independently developed by the Mercedes-AMG division [4] [1] . According to the official statement of the representatives of the German concern, the car continues the growth of the Mercedes-AMG GT family [5] . The head of the Mercedes-AMG division, Tobias Moers, explained that the new product was created on the basis of the MRA modular platform from the serial Mercedes-Benz C- / E-classes , and not on the basis of the Mercedes-AMG GT sports coupe. According to the assumptions of automobile media, the serial version of the concept will replace the existing petidvern version of the CLS-class in the back of the “Shooting Brake” [3] .
Within the framework of the concept car, a number of new technological solutions debuted, including daytime running lights and taillights made of active nano-fibers [1] . The exterior design of the Mercedes-AMG GT Concept used elements of active aerodynamics on the sides, a radiator grill in the Panamericana style with vertical ribs painted in red, and the rear-view mirrors were replaced with video cameras. Part of the body panels, including the aerodynamic body kit, is made of carbon fiber [4] .
The power plant of the AMG GT Concept concept car is represented by a hybrid engine in which the electric motor is combined with a gasoline four-liter V8 biturbo. The total power of the model is 600 kW (805 horsepower), so that the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in less than three seconds [1] [6] . The concept car has the ability to move exclusively on electric traction, only with the help of internal combustion engines or combining the operation of both units. The modular energy storage unit is more powerful than conventional hybrid batteries, but at the same time more compact and lightweight [1] . It is possible to replenish the energy reserve of batteries, the capacity of which has not yet been disclosed, either using the internal combustion engine (using it as a generator) or using energy recovery. The four-door coupe is equipped with a 4MATIC all-wheel drive system and the possibility of distributing torque separately to each wheel (in accordance with the principle of "Torque Vectoring"). To control high engine power, the AMG high-performance composite ceramic brake system is used. The brake calipers are painted in bronze color and are equipped with the signature AMG Carbon Ceramic [4] [1] .
The launch of the sports model of the German manufacturer, according to automotive media, is expected in September 2018 [7] . Initially, the car will be presented exclusively with a gasoline engine with a capacity of about 600 horsepower, but later (presumably in 2019) the model range will replenish a more powerful version with a hybrid power plant presented as part of the concept.
Description
Exterior
The exterior design of the AMG GT Concept continues to develop the ideas used on the Mercedes-AMG GT . Nevertheless, the car received a four-door body, practical for everyday use, with large rear doors, while maintaining the dynamic character of the design. The concept car is a synthesis of the Sensual Purity design philosophy combined with the sporty character of Mercedes-AMG products. According to company representatives, the model demonstrates the nature of the design of the future car, which will go into series [8] .
The front part of the body is decorated with a Panamerican-style radiator grill (with vertical mobile louvres painted red on the sides), large air intakes and pointed, narrowed LED optics with nano-active fiber technology and a three-dimensional lighting effect. The movable radiator shutters in the central and lateral air intakes are designed to improve the car's aerodynamics and are inspired by the AMG GT R AIRPANEL active air control system. The wide hood extends directly to the wheel arches. Red paintwork with the effect of liquid metal is also intended to emphasize the sporty character of the concept car. The wide rear part of the body with a smooth tilt of the glass to the trunk lid is decorated with the same thin horizontal lights and the company logo. In the rear optics, a new lighting technology is applied, which is located under the three-dimensional lens of the lamps. The finned cooling module is integrated in the lens and serves as a means of removing the generated heat to the outside. Special tail design elements include a wide carbon fiber diffuser, curved down the sides, and a central tailpipe trim that resembles a Mercedes-AMG GT R.
The lateral appearance of the car is formed by smooth forms, frameless pillars, side sills made of carbon fiber and external mirrors, the role of which is played by aerodynamically efficient miniature cameras, known as “mirror cameras” [8] . The front wings of the model are decorated with EQ Power + nameplates, which inform about the increased power of the vehicle, achieved using hybrid technologies. Wide wheel arches, in which large rims with thin spokes are located, complete the image, which makes it possible to consider the AMG high-performance composite brake system. The brake calipers are painted bronze and have the word AMG Carbon Ceramic.
Interior
The interior of the car remained unsolved: the interior of the concept car at the exhibition was hidden from prying eyes with the help of tinted black windows [9] . It is assumed that the car interior is borrowed in whole or in part from the Mercedes-AMG GT R and GT C. The only thing that is known about the future production version of the concept car is the fact that it will have four individual seats inside (although a five-seat version is also possible, since the five-door Mercedes-AMG GT is torn to replace the less popular wagon CLS Shooting Brake) [10] .
Engine
The Mercedes-AMG GT Concept is equipped with a hybrid ICE: the most advanced V8 gasoline engine with a 4-liter displacement and a high-performance electric motor. The hybrid unit was developed by the special forces of Mercedes-AMG High Performance Powertrains GmbH with the participation of the Formula 1 team of Mercedes-AMG Petronas. The concept car has a balanced distribution of axle load. The fully variable AMG 4MATIC + drive is also connected to an electric motor (using a rear gear), which is able to control the rear wheels and serve as an additional accelerator. The nine-speed automatic transmission 9G-Tronic [11] is engaged in the management and transmission of power. The transmission delivers power to the front wheels, however, the driveshaft also transmits torque to the rear wheels. Thanks to this combination of technologies (which the company refers to as Hybrid Performance Architecture [10] ), the car is capable of delivering up to 600 kW of power (more than 800 hp). The speed of the concept car from 0 to 100 km / h is less than 3 seconds. A powerful yet compact and lightweight battery is charged from the mains, from the energy recovery system or by burning fuel. Moreover, the battery has a scalable architecture (that is, various options for the final charge capacity) [12] .
Chassis
The car does not use the platform from the coupe and roadsters of the Mercedes-AMG GT model with a gearbox assigned to the rear gearbox (this chassis was too complicated, and most importantly, it does not meet the requirements of the layout with an all-wheel drive transmission). The design is based on a new chassis, more similar to the MRA platform from C- and E-class sedans [10] .
