Biography

Yakov Kuldurkaev was born on October 22, 1894 in the village of Lobaski (now Atyashevsky district of the Republic of Mordovia ) into a peasant family [1] .

In 1903-1906 he went to a rural elementary school. In 1912 he graduated from the Saransk Real College. He went to Siberia, where he worked as a timekeeper on the Amur Railway [2] .

In 1915 he was drafted into the army, took part in the First World War , was shell-shocked. Later he participated in the Civil War in the ranks of the Red Army [3] . After returning from the front in 1923, he entered the accounting courses in Moscow, which he soon graduated from. He worked as an accountant, accountant, auditor [1] .

In 1938 he was repressed as an “ enemy of the people ." He was serving a sentence in the camps of the Komi Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic , Novgorod and Dzhambul regions. Rehabilitated in 1958 [3] .

Yakov Kuldurkaev died on July 28, 1966, was buried in his homeland, in the village of Lobaski [3] .

Creativity

According to Kuldurkaev, his first literary works date back to 1910. The formation of his work was influenced by Mordovian folklore, as well as his acquaintance with the writers F. M. Chesnokov , P. S. Glukhov and A. M. Moro [2] .

In 1928, Kuldurkaev published the first chapters of his poem “Ermez” in the newspaper “ Yakster test ”, and in 1935 a full edition of the poem was published. The poem describes the past of the Mordovian people of the 13th century. The poet A. M. Moro spoke so much about the work of Kuldurkaev [3] :

 In the thirties, a brilliant poem by Ya. Y. Kuldurkayev “Ermez” was created, which in significance for the Mordovian people can only be compared with the “Word on Igor's Regiment” for the Russian people. This poem has become the shining peak of Mordovian poetry and all literature and serves as a great contribution to the treasury of world poetry ... 

After returning from prison, Kuldurkaev took up the revision of his work, but did not manage to publish the final version. It was published only in the 1980s. Kuldurkaev wrote a number of works for children: the poem “Senks” (“Heron”), the story “Andyamo” ​​and others [3] .

Memory

In the poet’s homeland in the village of Lobaski , a street was named in honor of Kuldurkaev [4] .
