Biography
Adavie Efendieva was born in 1879 in the Crimean city of Yevpatoriya . From an early age, her grandmother taught her the art of embroidery and weaving [2] . Adavie sat down at the embroidery machine (kergef) for the first time at the age of 12, and after 4 years her father bought her a loom (tokuma tezyah). He hired a weaving master to train his daughter [3] . In 1928, Adavie was the head of the national embroidery circle of the Evpatoria Museum [1] , was engaged in teaching embroidery techniques. In 1930 she became an employee of the artel, then she was an embroidery instructor in the Eski Ornek artel [1] (“Ancient Pattern”). Until 1937, she created more than 500 ornaments [2] . She died in 1944 during a deportation near Samarkand [1] [3] . Rehabilitated [1] .
Creativity
Since 1935, Adavie participated in art exhibitions. For the first time, her drawings were presented at the Moscow exhibition of masters of folk art of the Tatars and Karaites of Crimea, as well as at the I All-Russian exhibition of amateur performances in the fine arts [2] . Products with its ornaments were exhibited in Europe and the USA. Adavie Efendieva is the author of more than 200 ornamental compositions [1] . Among her works are tablecloths, wedding towels, belt with patterns [4] . According to the art critic Ismet Zaatov, her work is characterized by " sharpness of the picture, a kind of composition ." Adavie Efendieva herself spoke of her compositions as follows: “ My ornaments are my thoughts” [3] . Among her students from the Evpatoria artisan “Promshway” there are embroiderers Aliyev, Bekirova and others [5] . Sketches and drawings of Efendiyeva are stored in the funds of the Central Museum of Tauris ( Simferopol ).
