Lithuanian biathlon team - the national team representing Lithuania in biathlon competitions. The national team includes both male and female teams. Managed by the Lithuanian Biathlon Federation (LBF).

History
The development of biathlon in Lithuania began in 1955. In 1961, the first official championship of the Lithuanian SSR was held , and in 1962 the national team of the republic took part in the Spartakiad of the peoples of the USSR for the first time. By the mid-1980s, more than 200 biathletes were trained in Lithuania, including one Honored Master of Sports of the USSR Algimantas Shalna ), one international master of sports ( Igor Gruzdev ) and 21 sports masters. In the USSR national team at major tournaments from representatives of Lithuania, only Algimantas Shalna participated, becoming the Olympic champion and world champion.
Since the 1991/92 season, the Lithuanian national team has been acting as an independent team in the international arena, in the same season it made its debut at the World Cup . In 1992, Lithuanian biathletes took part in the Winter Olympics in Albertville for the first time, the best results were shown for women by Kazimer Strolene - 27th place in the sprint, for men - Gintaras Jasinskas - 19th place in the individual race. At the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, Thomas Kaukenas took 13th place in the pursuit race , a record for Lithuanian biathletes.
In the history of independent Lithuania, its athletes have never won medals in world championships and the Olympic Games. At the Olympic Games, the best result among women was shown by Diana Rasimovichiute - 18th place in 2006. At the junior level, Igor Shchekochikhin was a bronze medalist in 2000 in the pursuit.
As of 2007, about 150 athletes and 10 trainers were registered in Lithuania. There are biathlon centers in Vilnius , Anykščiai , Nemenchin , Visaginas and Ignalina . The main for the national team is the base in Ignalina. The governing body of the biathlon in Lithuania is the Lithuanian Biathlon Federation, founded in 1996.

Lithuania at the Biathlon World Cup
The Lithuanian biathlon team also takes part in competitions of this level. During the 2016/2017 season , the best result for the national team was the eighteenth place in the mixed relay in Kontiolahti . [one]
