The National Natural Gas Transportation Society Transgaz SA Mediaș ( Roman Societatea Națională de Transport de Gaze Naturale Transgaz SA Mediaș ) is a Romanian state-owned natural gas production, processing and transportation company. The registration certificate number 334 was issued by the Government of Romania on April 28, 2000. The company is a subsidiary of Romgaz . The volume of natural gas transported by the company is 30 billion m³, the total length of pipelines is 13 thousand km. Transgaz is a partner in the Nabucco gas pipeline project.

Activities
The main activity of the company is gas transportation, research and development in the field of natural gas production: in particular, we are talking about monitoring, maintenance and operation of special transit pipelines and associated technological installations. These pipes are designed to transport natural gas from Russia and Romania in transit through Dobrudja to the Balkan Peninsula. The throughput is about 30 billion cubic meters of gas per year and is ensured by pipelines with a total length of about 13 thousand km with a diameter of 50 to 1200 mm and a pressure of 6 to 35 bar, with the exception of international transit (54 bar).
Transgaz shareholders are the Ministry of Economy of Romania (58.51%), legal entities (30.73% - for example, Fondul Proprietatea ) and private individuals (10.76%). The company is the only national gas carrier among gas producing companies (Romgaz, Petrom, etc.) and authorized distributors (including E.ON Gaz România and GDF SUEZ Energy Romania).
