Until 1976, the Torpedo Stadium had only one tribune, which was located on the slope of a mountain adjacent to the field. After the reconstruction, carried out shortly before the Moscow Olympiad , the stadium began to accommodate 16,000 spectators.
Before the World Youth Games held in Moscow in 1998, the stadium, which was rather dilapidated by that time, was repaired, plastic chairs appeared instead of benches in the stands, as a result of which the capacity of the stadium decreased to 13,300 people. At the stadium field, one of the first in the country, an artificial lawn heating system was installed.
In 2010, the inscription “Moscow” was dismantled on the Eastern stand and the inscription “Torpedo” was returned.
Sector 5 on the West Stand of the Central Sports Arena is the sector of active Torpedo fans. In the room under the stands, there is a shop with club symbols and souvenirs, and at the gallery of the stands there is a bar “Zapad-5”, where at the end of each match a so-called “third time” is held - a meeting of Torpedo footballers with their fans [3] .
In April 2013, the Eduard Streltsov Stadium was awarded the first UEFA category, which allowed the stadium to host RFPL matches [4] .

September 26, 2012 at the stadium was the match of the 1/16 finals of the Russian Cup between the Moscow teams Torpedo and Dynamo , which ended in a scandal - the game was stopped with the score 2-1 in favor of Dynamo due to the fact that twice stopped by the decision of the arbitrator because of the riots in the stands [14] . Reconstruction plans
The last reconstruction of the stadium was carried out in 1998. The current stadium's central sports arena requires major repairs and does not meet the current requirements of FIFA and UEFA for arenas for international matches. There were plans, according to which the development company OPIN (included in Onexim ) was ready to spend $ 150 million on the reconstruction of the stadium - it was assumed that OPIN would build a new quarter with residential and commercial real estate on 25 hectares of the sports complex and surrounding areas. The total area of the buildings was planned to be 430,000 m², of which 120,000 m² was allocated for the stadium. OPIN stated that the football stadium itself would be a modern sports complex, accredited by UEFA, capable of hosting international competitions. [17] .
Previously, football fans, as well as the management of the sports club Torpedo, feared that the stadium would be demolished [18] .
In April 2015, hearings were held on the reconstruction of the stadium, in terms of which it was supposed to clean out all the unprofitable football territories in favor of the commercial construction of residential buildings [19] .
A presentation of the reconstruction of the stadium took place on April 26, 2019, which is scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2020 and is expected to take place within 2.5 years. The international competition was won by the French bureau Michel Remon. The capacity of the arena should slightly increase - from the current 13,450 to 15,070 seats [20] .
