General Information
The village was founded in the late 1940s as a rural community near the Parral River.
The village received its fame after Rafael Caro Quintero established a cannabis plantation here in 1980, and in 1984 the Mexican army together with UPBN carried out an operation to seize it, as a result of which more than 10 thousand people were arrested.
