Biography

He became interested in music while studying at the Galatasaray Lyceum . The first musical instrument of Kyzylok was the accordion, on which the father of one of his classmates taught him to play.

After meeting with Jahit Oben in 1963, he began to play rhythm guitar . Together they created the band “Cahit Oben 4”, in addition to Kyzylok and Oben, the group also included Korai Oktay, who played bass instruments and drummer Erol Ulashtyr. The band performed at the Çatı Gece Kulübü nightclub. Along with performances in the club, musicians gave performances in the open air. The first song “Cahit Oben 4” was written under the influence of the Beatles “I Wanna Be Your Man”. Later the group broke up.

After the breakup of the group, Kyzylok was educated in the field of dentistry, then he performed with Barysh Mancho for about a year before releasing his first solo single “Ay Osman - Sevgilim” [1] . In the 1970s, Kyzylok satl touched more closely on political topics in his works. He wrote poems from a number of poets who actively spoke on political topics to music, including Ahmet Arif (Vurulmuşum, 1971), Ashik Mahzuni Sheriff (Darağacı, 1975) and former Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit . Kyzylok’s album “Not Defterimden” (1977) included his experiments with atonal music and recording poetry of Nazim Hikmet . However, the rapidly deteriorating political situation in Turkey in the 1970s and the ban on Ecevit from engaging in political activities after the 1980 coup led Kyzylok to a forced interruption in music from 1977 to 1983 [2] .

In 1998, Kyzylok suffered a heart attack, in the same year he completed work on the album “ Mustafa Kemal - Devrimcinin Güncesi” and began work on the album, which received the working title “Suya Yazılan Şarkılar”, but the musician failed to complete the work [3] . After a heart attack, Kyzylok underwent a course of treatment, but he had to wear a pacemaker. In July 2001, Fikret Kyilok suffered a second heart attack, from the consequences of which he died in September of that year.

Creativity

Kyzylok released 13 gold records [1] . Many musicians have recorded cover versions of his songs. Among them: Barysh Akarsu (“Bu Kalp Seni Unutur mu?” And “Yeter Ki”), Funda Arar (“Haberin Var mı?”), Mehmet Erdem (“Bir Harmanım bu Akşam”), Mor ve Ötesi (“Sevda Çiçeği ”), Lehman Sam and Chevval Sam (“ Gönül ”), and Sibel Cesal (“ Ben Gidersem ”).
