Street History

Chelyuskintsev Street is a peculiar embodiment of the stepped growth of the city of Donetsk. Since the end of the 19th century, it is known as the Ninth Line. On a topographic map of the city of Stalin from 1942 , Chelyuskintsev Street is the longest street in the city, which began from the Stalin Metallurgical Plant and ended at the level of modern Vatutin Avenue .

In the 1950s, when the central streets of Donetsk expanded and extended, Chelyuskintsev Street reached the area of the Vetka-Glubokaya mine (the modern mine named after A. F. Zasyadko ). Later, part of the street in the modern district of Vetka was renamed Sobinova Street. In the 1960s, a tram was transferred here from the First Line (now Artyom Street , now tram number 1 .

Since then, the modern boundaries of the street have been preserved. The street starts from the old Donetsk planetarium and ends at the intersection with Razenkova street.
