From 1975 to 1980. studied biology and chemistry at the University of Ulm .

She received a doctorate in zoology in 1984, and in 1987 she defended her doctoral dissertation on the topic “Coenoptera coenosis in pine forests: Ecological and elementary-analytical studies” and was qualified as a doctor of zoology at the University of Ulm. Since then, she has taken part in various European projects on the structure and functions of invertebrates in the study of trophic chains of forest ecosystems. Since 1988, she worked as a scientific assistant at the Department of Ecology and Zoomorphology of the University of Ulm and in 1991 qualified as a doctor of zoology at the Faculty of Natural Sciences.

In 1993, she received an invitation to work at the Dresden Technical University and since April 1994 has been working there as a professor of forest zoology.

In 1995, she took part in the organization of the Ukrainian-German project of the Ukrainian-German Dniester project and was the head of one of his private projects. Four years later, she became the permanent leader and ideologist of the project. Under her leadership, after completion of research in 2006, Ukrainian and German scientists compiled reports on the work done, on the basis of which a book was published under the editing of Mehtgild Roth. ^[1] .
