Lavender Menace ( English Lavender Menace ) - a group of radical feminists - lesbians , united during the Second Congress of the women's association on May 1, 1970 in New York to protest against the exclusion of lesbians and their problems from the agenda of the feminist movement. The members of the group were , , Rita May Brown , Louis Hart, , Ellen Schumsky, Artemis March, Cynthia Funk, Mikela Griffo. Most of them were members of the Gay Liberation Front and the [1] The name of the group appeared as a response to Betty Friedan's statement that lesbians constitute a “lavender threat” for the progress of the women's rights movement [2] .
