Biography
Gael Morel was born on September 25, 1972 in the city of Villefranche-sur-Saone , in the Rhone department in France. Grew up also in the Villefranche district of the neighboring town of Lacin .
At the age of 15, Morel left home to study the art of cinema in Lyon , and then moved to Paris . At the age of 18, he was a member of the youth jury of the Cannes International Film Festival [1] .
In 1994, the famous French film director Andre Teschine offered Gael Morel the main role of the young homosexual Francois Forestier in the film “ Wild Reed ”, for which he received a number of awards of the French film award “ César ”. The work in this film brought Morel wide fame, flattering reviews from critics and a nomination for "Cesar" in the category "Most Promising Actor".
Gael Morel’s partners on the set of Wild Reed were Elodie Boucher and Stefan Rideau , whom he subsequently often shot in his own films when he began his directorial career.
