History
The street appeared in the first quarter of the XX century under the name Mikhailovskaya . It stretched between the current Sevastopol and September streets. In 1941-1943 - Forest .
In the middle of the 20th century, the continuation of Yuri Shevelyov Street was laid - 205th New Street . Both streets were united in 1955 [1] under the name Rudnev Street . In the directories of Kyiv Streets in 1975 and 1995, it was mistakenly indicated that the street was named after Semyon Rudnev , Hero of the Soviet Union, one of the organizers of the partisan movement in Ukraine during the Great Patriotic War , the commissar of the partisan formation under the command of Sidor Kovpak .
Since 1974, the street bore the specified name Nikolay Rudnev Street [2] .
In the mid -1980s, the street was significantly reduced (in the 1950s and 80s, it started from Dneprodzerzhinskaya Street ) and was rebuilt to a large extent.
The modern name - since 2016, in honor of Yuri Shevelev , Ukrainian Slavic linguist, historian of Ukrainian literature, literary and theatrical critic [3] [4] .
