Biography
Ksenia Ivanovna Kharitonova was born on January 22, 1916.
Since 1933, she worked as a preparation for the Department of Operative Surgery of the Novosibirsk State Pedagogical University. She worked as a surgeon in evacuation hospitals. In 1949 she defended her thesis on the treatment of the effects of injuries of peripheral nerves . A year later, she founded a neurosurgical clinic at the Novosibirsk Research Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedics.
In 1962, Ksenia Ivanovna defended her doctoral dissertation "On the formation, course and prevention of traumatic brain abscesses (experimental clinical study)." Thanks to her personal initiative, neurosurgical departments were created in other cities of Siberia. In addition to Novosibirsk, neurosurgery departments appeared in Barnaul , Krasnoyarsk , Kemerovo , Prokopyevsk and Tomsk .
Ksenia Ivanovna Kharitonova made a huge contribution to the development of such sciences as neurosurgery , traumatology and vertebrology, she is the author of more than 200 scientific articles and 4 monographs. It has made notable achievements in the prevention and treatment of purulent complications of craniocerebral injuries. She founded the Siberian school of neurosurgeons.
Under the guidance of K. I. Kharitonova, 23 candidate and three doctoral dissertations were defended.
She was an employee of the presidium of the board of the All-Union Society of Neurosurgeons, she worked on the board of the All-Union and All-Russian Societies of Traumatology and Orthopedics, she was on the editorial board of the journals Traumatology, Orthopedics and Prosthetics and Issues of Neurosurgery.
She founded and headed the scientific society of neurosurgeons in Novosibirsk.
Died December 1, 1993 at the age of 77.
