Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition Remix

Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition Remix is an arcade racing game made in three-dimensional graphics , in which the player should participate in street races and travel freely in real cities ^[4] .

The reissue includes the capital of Japan - the city of Tokyo, whose career is displayed on the menu screen in a separate mode. Unlike the American cities of the game, in Tokyo there are no racers traveling around the street and Rockstar Games logos being collected, as well as a different navigation system and racing competitions - street races in Tokyo are indicated by purple diamonds on the map ^{[pr. 1]} , club races with blue cups, and each of the tournaments marked with gray cups requires one of four classes of cars. When winning the club competition, some new cars and motorcycles are included, included in the supplement, some of which are available initially. As in US cities, Tokyo has a garage that serves for various actions with vehicles (for example, for their purchase and improvement); its owners are Tomoyo and his partner Toshi. In addition, the game operates while maintaining the progress of the original Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition , thereby allowing the player to continue passing and competitions in Tokyo ^[4] .

For the first time, Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition Remix became known on January 30, 2006, but no comment was received from Rockstar Games about the release of the project ^[5] . The re-release announcement took place on February 3, which includes 24 new cars and motorbikes from manufacturers such as GMC , Infiniti , Pagani , Scion and others, as well as a new city - Tokyo, which was already present in the previous part of the series - Midnight Club II , more racing competitions , tuning details and 25 new licensed music tracks soundtrack ^[2] .

Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition Remix was released March 13, 2006 in North America, where the game was distributed under the status of "Platinum Hits" and "Greatest Hits" for the Xbox and PlayStation 2 consoles, respectively, and in Europe the game was released on March 17 of the same year ^{[ 3]} . Soft Club was responsible for the distribution in Russia, as in the case of the original game ^[1] . On December 19, 2012, Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition Remix was released on the PlayStation 3 and was available on the PlayStation Store service in the PS2 Classics section ^[3] .

Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition Remix , like the original game, received positive reviews from critics. On Metacritic and GameRankings sites , the average score is 87/100 and 87.14% in the version for Xbox ^{[6] [10]} , 85/100 and 85.57% in the version for PlayStation 2 ^{[7] [11]} . Journalists liked the fact that players can get more opportunities than in the original for a lower price, but observers also wanted to see improvements and changes in the difficulty level ^{[14] [15] [17]} . In February 2014, Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition Remix took fourth place in the PlayStation Network service sales chart in the “Top Five Classics” section ^[21] .

The representative of Eurogamer , Ellie Gibson, reacted positively to the additions in the form of Tokyo, new vehicles and music tracks ("such as we wanted to hear"). Nevertheless, the reviewer drew attention to the shortcomings present in the original Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition , in particular the lack of a challenge to the player, but this was offset by the increased level of difficulty in racing in Tokyo ^[14] .

A similar opinion was expressed by a colleague from GameSpot , Alex Navarro, who attributed the gameplay, the new city, many additional cars and songs to the soundtrack for only $ 20, but criticized the problems of the original Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition and the lack of Subaru cars, and also said that “the new content is still not enough to justify the purchase again, if you have already paid for the game earlier” ^[15] .

IGN spokesman Douglas Perry said that “a year later, the game still looks beautiful, stylish and clear.” The additions included 25 new “sweet” songs, a very large amount of content, in particular an extensive selection of cars and motorbikes, and “the additional city of Tokyo expands this pleasure”. However, it was noted that after a year the schedule already does not look so good ^[18] .

The GameZone website noted that with the new city - Tokyo - the game will take many hours to complete, the graphics are still impressive, and the soundtrack is one of the best among racing games. Online multiplayer, which outperforms Need for Speed and Street Racing Syndicate , is also praised, and comes close to networking opportunities in Forza Motorsport and ^[17] .
