Mechislav Mikhailovich Dobranitsky (January 8 (20), 1882, Lodz - November 5, 1937, Leningrad) - revolutionary, Soviet state and museum figure, diplomat, director of the Public Library .

Biography
Came from the merchant estate, the son of a merchant of the 2nd guild. Since 1893 he attended the Real School in Lodz, in 1900 he entered the engineering department of the Polytechnic in Charlottenburg , from where he was forced to leave his second year. He graduated from the law faculty of the University of Heidelberg in 1910, in 1912 received a doctorate in law from Kazan University.
From 1901 to 1917 he was a member of the Social Democratic Party of Poland and Lithuania. Member of the RSDLP , was a member of the Menshevik wing until 1920.
In 1923-1935 - a member of the CPSU (b) . Since 1917 he worked in the regional trade union in Rostov-on-Don ; in 1921-1922 he headed the Museum of the Revolution in Tiflis ; in 1921-1924 he moved to Moscow, where he worked in the Archive and the Museum of the October Revolution , at the same time taught at the Communist University. Ya. M. Sverdlova and Moscow State University. In 1924-1927 - Consul General of the USSR in Hamburg . Since 1927 he headed the branch of the Baltic states and Poland of the NKID ; since 1929 - a representative of the People's Commissariat of Education in Odessa, where at the same time he taught at the Odessa Institute of National Economy . In 1930-1936 - Director of the Public Library , where Dobranitsky replaced Academician N. Ya. Marr .
In 1935, Dobranitsky was expelled from the CPSU (B.) For participating in the Menshevik movement. In 1936-1937 he worked as an assistant editor of LO Sotsekgiza .
Opal, Arrest and Execution
In July 1937, he was dismissed from his job at the publishing house as a "socially alien element." Arrested on August 23, 1937. Accused of espionage and participation in a counter-revolutionary terrorist organization. October 29, 1937 sentenced to death. Executed on November 5, 1937. The corpse is buried at the Levashovsky NKVD firing range.
He was partially rehabilitated posthumously on February 1, 1960 (the verdict against M. Dobranitsky was quashed and the criminal case was dismissed as clearly falsified, however, the Communist Party was refused posthumous reinstatement, as documents archiving in his archives and investigation file showed that M Dobranitsky was an agent provocateur of the NKVD). Rehabilitated posthumously in 1988, then reinstated in the Communist Party.
Family
- Wife Susanna Filippovna Wansliben, German anti-fascist.
- Kazimir’s son, a bibliophile, was a close acquaintance of Voloshin and Akhmatova , and since 1932 he was an informant of the NKVD.
- Both were shot in 1937 for espionage and participation in a counter-revolutionary terrorist organization [1] .
