Honor
The village of Clouan (Cluana), which is in Marche , gained the relics of a saint in the 7th century in exchange for land. The relics of the saint and his companions Eustachius and Ennesia were preserved by the local inhabitants, and subsequently the town became known as Sant Elpidio a Mare . The relics of the saint are believed to have saved the city from occupation by the Lombards : the legend says that the saint appeared in heaven with an appeal to the inhabitants to defend the village [1] .
