Ukrainians in Mexico ( Ukrainian Ukrainians in Mexico ) are one of the ethnic communities in Mexico , the number of which according to the census is 1,005 people [1] , but this figure can significantly exceed official data. The vast majority of them are descendants of Ukrainian political emigrants from Austria-Hungary and staying in this country in connection with contract work.

The largest public organization is the Slavutich Ukrainian association of Mexico , which is headed by Natalya Vasilyevna Althoughyintseva, there are Ukrainian language departments at the National Universities of Mexico City and Monterey, an Ukrainian dance ensemble and one newspaper [2] .
History and Modernity of the Ukrainian Diaspora
The first Ukrainians in Mexico were immigrants from the Austro-Hungarian Empire, who settled down in the city of Campeche . Most rural migrants are employed in the agriculture of Central and Northern Mexico, as well as on the Yucatan Peninsula . Ukrainians also inhabit the cities of Mexico City , Puebla , Cuernavaca , Toluca , Monterrey , Campeche , Veracruz and Acapulco [2] .
A significant part of Ukrainian immigrants of the old wave are scientists, teachers, musicians, circus performers and artists. They primarily work in the host country under contracts [2] .
In modern times, due to changes in emigration trends, the majority of newly arrived Ukrainians are IT specialists. Also, Ukrainians from other countries, workers of large international companies, are being transferred to Mexico . There are many mixed families in which the wife or husband is Mexican [2] .
In addition to IT and engineering, many Ukrainians work in the tourism and restaurant business [2] .
Ukrainian Organizations in Mexico
The public life of Ukrainians in Mexico is not too active, due to the relative small number of diasporas.
