Pat Patterson ( born Pat Patterson , born January 19, 1941) is a former Canadian and American wrestler . He gained fame as the first intercontinental champion of WWF and the creator of Royal Rumble . Member of the WWE Hall of Fame since 1996. He currently works at World Wrestling Entertainment as a creative consultant. Journalist Dave Meltzer describes Patterson as β Vince McMan 's right handβ and βone of WWF's chief architects playing an integral role in helping him become a global phenomenon.β

WWF (1979-1984)
Intercontinental Champion (1979β1980)
In 1979, he defeated Teda Dibiasi to become the champion of North America. In a fictional tournament in Rio De Janeiro , he defeated Johnny Rhodes to become the champion of South America. After this tournament, WWE combined both titles into the Intercontinental Champion title. A year later, in 1980, Ken Patera defeated Patterson to become the new Intercontinental champion. After this, Pat's career began to decline.
Roles Backstage (1984-1997)
After injuries, Patterson ended his career in 1984, becoming a commentator. He later worked as a Road Agent, became Vince McMan's right-handed man, and booked for the Battle Royale matches.
He also worked as a judge, including for WrestleMania I.
In 1992, he was seen sexually harassing an entertainer of the ring, Murray Hodgson. Because of this incident, he was kicked out of the federation.
Puppet (1997-2000)
In 1997, became Vince McMann's Stooge. Together with Gerald, Briscoe became a comedic healer, helping the boss do the dirty work of wrestlers like Ice Block Steve Austin , Mankind and Scala . In 1999, Patterson and Briscoe joined the Corporation , using the Real American gimmick to make fun of Hulk Hogan .
June 19, 2000, became the oldest hardcore champion by hitting Briscoe with a bottle of champagne.
Personal life
Pierre Clermont chose the pseudonym Pat Patterson at the beginning of his wrestling career in 1958. Legally changed his name to Pat Patterson in 2008.
Patterson is openly gay . First made a cuming out in the early 1970s, but his orientation was not mentioned publicly in WWE stories until the final episode of WWE Legends' House , which aired on June 12, 2014.
His partner was Louis Dondero. In WWE Legends' House, Patterson stated that they had been together for 40 years until Dondero died of a heart attack in 1998.
Patterson emigrated from Canada to the United States in 1962, eventually successfully applying for United States citizenship.
In August 2006, Patterson underwent emergency heart surgery to remove a cyst from the coronary artery. In October, Patterson recovered from the operation and was released from the hospital.
Patterson, a Catholic, was an altar boy .
