Biography
In 1958 he graduated from the Donetsk Industrial Institute with a degree in mining machines. Until 1976 he worked at the Research Institute of Mining Mechanics of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR named after N. G. Fedorov, who headed the laboratory of centrifugal fans.
Already in the first years of work, Vitold Vitoldovich created fundamentally new aerodynamic schemes for centrifugal fans, which could fully provide ventilation of deep and superdeep coal mines of Donbass and the USSR. The efficiency of the fans developed by him and his colleagues was 84-85%, this allowed to bring the industry to the world level.
In 1963 , Vitold Vitoldovich defended a Ph.D. The results of further research formed the basis of the doctoral dissertation on the topic "Aerodynamic research and calculation of the shaft elements of ventilation units with centrifugal fans" ", he defended it in 1971.
Subsequently, Vitold Vitoldovich and his colleagues worked on the creation of a number of mine fans that could be operated in low-temperature conditions, including in the far north. They developed the world's largest fan of the North class, which allowed for efficient ventilation of mines in Norilsk. For these achievements of 1981, Vitold Vitoldovich was awarded the USSR State Prize, and in 1982 - the gold medal of VDNH of Ukraine .
Another important area of research and inventive activity of the Pak - the use of "flexible" elements in fans, where Vitold Vitoldovich made several inventions protected by copyright, patented. For work in this direction in 1987, the World Intellectual Property Organization under the UN awarded V. Pak an honorary diploma.
He worked as the head of the department of higher mathematics of the Donetsk Polytechnic Institute . He became the chairman of the scientific and methodological commission on mathematics at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. 1993 , he became a member of the National Council for Mathematics and Mechanics of the Ministry of Higher Education of Ukraine. From the creation of the Higher Attestation Commission of Ukraine, he became a member of the mining council of experts. For outstanding achievements in education and active participation in the formation of the industrial potential of Ukraine in 1992 received the title of "Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine." On April 22, 1994, he was elected an academician of the Engineering Academy of Ukraine with a degree in Geology, Mining and Processing of Minerals, and on February 25, 1997, he was a corresponding member of the Academy of Mining Sciences of Ukraine.
December 25, 2002 Vitold Vitoldovich Pak died after an illness.
