Biography
Born February 2, 1947 in the city of Kolpashevo , Tomsk Region . Father - Gubin Innokenty Ivanovich, front-line soldier, holder of the Order of the Red Star and the Order of the Patriotic War, 2nd degree [2] . Mother - Gubina (Shnurova) Praskovya Filippovna, was awarded a number of medals of war and peace [3] .
Even at school, Nikolai independently mastered a number of wind and folk musical instruments. He worked in the city brass and pop orchestra. In 1965, after graduating from Kolpashevskaya secondary school No. 5, he directed the brass band of the Kolpashevsky pedagogical school. In 1967 he moved to the city of Seversk , where he studied at a music school and worked in various creative groups (from 1967 to 1971 he was an artist and soloist of the Birch Jazz Orchestra, the Operetta Theater orchestra, and the Musical Drama Theater Orchestra).
In 1972 he graduated from the Tomsk Music College . Edison Denisov (department of wind instruments, clarinet class) and entered the Military Conducting Department at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory . (Class prof. Berlin PM)
In 1973, as part of the consolidated orchestra of the Moscow garrison, he participated in a military parade on Red Square . In 1974, he made his first recording on All-Union Radio . In 1975 he made a translation from the English book by G. Miller “My method of arrangement”. In 1977, he successfully completed his studies at the Military Conducting Department and was promoted to officer.
From 1977 to 1981 he served in the Military Orchestras of the Red Banner Far Eastern Military District (KDVO). The test of the pen in the creation of works for a military orchestra belongs to the same period of time.
Since 1982 - garrison military conductor of the Guards Naumburg Division. From 1982 to 1987 he served in the Group of Soviet Forces in Germany (GSVG).
Since 1985 - artistic director and conductor of Russian programs at the Consolidated Military Orchestra of the Warsaw Pact countries . He made a significant contribution to the promotion of Russian and Soviet military music.
From 1988 to 1992, he served in the military orchestras of the Order of Lenin of the Leningrad Military District (LenVO) (Luga, Polyarnye Zori). During this period of time, the newspaper “Luga Pravda” published a number of local history articles devoted to the life and work of composers Rimsky-Korsakov and Mussorgsky on the Luga land.
In 1988, he completed a refresher course in the specialty of "military conducting", after which he served as the head of the orchestra.
In 1992, on transfer to the reserve, he withstood the competition for filling the post of artistic director and chief conductor of the Lipetsk Symphony Orchestra and moved to the city of Lipetsk . [four]
Between 1995 and 2010, he wrote a series of sharp journalistic articles [5] [6] [7] , created a series of poetic [8] and prose collections [9] , and wrote memoirs.
In 2012, he suffered a serious illness that led to visual impairment. In 2014, after a series of operations, he resumed social, musical and creative activities. In 2017, he was nominated for a literary prize named after Sergei Yesenin.
Musical and social activities
In 2010, he founded the international professional Internet community “Millennium Military Bandmaster” [10] . Under his leadership, community officers entered state bodies with the initiative of holding the annual V. Agapkin International Brass Band Festival.
Since 2011, a special place in the work of Nikolai Gubin has been occupied by many years of permanent work on the content of the music and public Internet site MARCH MILLENNIUM [1] . Initially [11] the site was dedicated to the 100-year history of the Russian military march “ Farewell of the Slav ”, however, comprehensive studies of the social essence of the issue gradually began to dominate, and now the site has become a real music and public platform for a two-million audience of march fans from several countries of the world [ significance of fact? ] .
Since 2012 Nikolay Gubin has been the permanent coordinator of the Internet action. DAYS OF WORLDWIDE PERFORMANCE OF THE RUSSIAN MILITARY MARCH "FAREWELL TO THE SLAVANKA" The campaign is held around the world during the Agapkin International Brass Band Festival in the homeland of the march in the city of Tambov.
