The monument is a military aircraft mounted on a pedestal, made according to the model of the sports Yak-52 . [1] The aircraft was manufactured at the Shakhty Aircraft Repair Plant [2] . Installation work on the monument was completed in April 2010 on the eve of the celebration of the 65th anniversary of the Great Victory.
The idea of creating the monument belonged to the mayor of the city of Zverev - A. N. Chumakov . [3] Work on the creation of a memorial ensemble (based on sketches of the Zverev artist Elena Zubkova [4] ), erected at the burial place of the pilot, began in 2009. The memorial is dedicated to the soldiers of the Great Patriotic War buried in this place. Represents asphalt paved walkways; the entrance to its territory is made in the form of gates with granite slabs on which the names of war heroes buried here are embossed. [1] The opening took place with the guests of honor of the region: the governor, the priest. Elementary school students were invited to know the history of their hometown.

The monument is located on Sovetskaya Street, 1. [5] Its grand opening took place on May 6, 2010.
Historical Background
I.A. Dokukin immediately after graduating from the Serpukhov military aviation school of pilots in June 1941 went to serve in the Red Army . Performing combat sorties on an IL-2 plane, Dokukin with his comrades-in-arms successfully attacked and destroyed enemy infantry battalions, tanks and artillery, firing points, military vehicles, Wehrmacht troops dugouts , aircraft and airfields occupied by the Luftwaffe . Dokukin had the largest number of sorties in his unit, often he was able to successfully cope with combat missions in difficult weather conditions with poor visibility, when the enemy least expected an air strike. By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of February 8, 1943, for the exemplary performance of the combat tasks of command at the front and the courage and heroism shown to I. A. Dokunin, he was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal . In the summer of 1943 in an air battle over the river Mius Dokukin died. The plane did not reach the landing strip a few meters, all residents of Zverevo saw a bright flash and falling fragments. The monument was erected above the mass grave where the pilot was buried [6] .
