Otar Mikhailovich Gordeli ( Georgian ოთარ მიხეილის ძე გორდელი ; November 18, 1928 , Tbilisi , Georgian SSR , now Georgia - 1994 ) is a Georgian composer, one of the founders of jazz in Georgia.

Biography
In 1938-1946 he studied at the Tbilisi School of Music in the class of E. Chernyavskaya (piano) and in the class of Andrei Balanchivadze (composition). In 1951, he graduated from the Tbilisi Conservatory in the class of Anastasia Virsaladze (piano) and Jonah Tuskiya (composition), and in 1954, graduate school under the direction of Semyon Bogatyrev at the Moscow Conservatory (composition). He taught at the Tbilisi Conservatory, where in 1972 he became an assistant professor, and since 1982 - a professor. In 1967-1990 he was chairman of the Musical-Choreographic Society of Georgia. Then he worked as the director of the Zakharia Paliashvili house-museum in Tbilisi. He wrote romances to verses by Georgian poets, music for plays and films.
