    History

Following the October revolution in the Russian capitals, revolutionary events on the Don followed. On October 26, a report was received on the Colchis yacht moored in Rostov about the overthrow of the Provisional Government and the transfer of power to the Soviets. On the same day, a Military Revolutionary Committee was created in the city. The committee sent commissioners to the local garrison. The news of the victory of the October Revolution quickly spread to the cities, workers, villages and villages of the region. The Bolsheviks organized rallies on the ground at which they called on the population to follow the example of Petrograd, explained the decrees of Soviet power, and Red Guard detachments were organized to defend the revolution [1] .

In 1918, under the leadership of the Bolsheviks D. P. Komarov and D. D. Topilin, the working stanitsa of Konstantinovskaya also rose to the battle and established Soviet power in the First Don District of the Don Army. The names of the revolutionaries now bear the streets of the city of Konstantinovsk.

On October 29, 1980, on the birthday of the Lenin Komsomol in the city of Konstantinovsk, Rostov Region, the Obelisk "In memory of the fighters of the revolution - Dmitry Deomidovich Topilin and Demyan Petrovich Komarov" was opened. The obelisk is installed at the intersection of Komarov and Topilin streets. The bas-reliefs of the obelisk were made by the Rostov Art Fund.

The obelisk is a rectangular stela, tiled and mounted on a low pedestal. On one side, Komarov’s bas-relief is fixed on the stele, and on the other side is Topilin’s bas-relief. The stele has a height of 7 meters 30 centimeters and a width of 3 meters 50 cm. The stele is installed on a concrete two-stage pedestal, measuring 4 x 1.4 meters.

From the topography of Topilin’s bas-relief, the inscription was separately made: “Topilin Dmitry Deomidovich 1886-1918 - the first district military commissar, an active organizer of the establishment of Soviet power in the village of Konstantinovskaya and the First Don District of 1918."

From the side of Komarov’s bas-relief on a separate board there is an inscription: “Komarov Demyan Petrovich 1867-1918, Petrograd worker, Bolshevik, active organizer of the establishment of Soviet power in the village of Konstatinovskaya and the First Don District of 1918.”

At the base of the obelisk is a message to the young people of 2017. The area around the monument is landscaped.
