Built in 1971. Until 1978, he was on Vozduhoflotsky Avenue in Kiev.
In 1978, it was installed in the square on the reconstructed Solomenskaya Square .

Height - 3.4 m, including sculptures - 1.2 m, pedestal - 2.2 m. The bronze semi-figure of Nikolai Ostrovsky was mounted on a rectangular granite pedestal. The head, barely raised up and dynamically turned to the right, with thick hair thrown back, a soldier’s coat thrown over his right shoulder, an open book and a muzzle of a rifle, laid on a bent left hand, which rested on a pedestal, gave the image a romantic and simultaneously literary and narrative character, which emphasized and realistic plastic. On the front of the pedestal are false bronze letters, stylized as facsimiles of the writer's signature, below are the dates of life.
