Kingsley, Gershon

Gershon Kingsley ( Eng. Gershon Kingsley ), real name Götz Gustav Ksinski ( German Götz Gustav Ksinski [4] ; born October 28, 1922 , Bochum ) - German - American composer [4] , one of pioneers of electronic music in the 1970s and one of the first performers on the Mug synthesizer . Best known as the author of the instrumental composition " Popcorn " [4] , first recorded in 1969 ; Kingsley is also known as a long-term partner of Jean-Jacques Perry .

Kingsley's range of activities is extensive in genre terms; this includes music for film and television [5] , “ classical ” chamber works [6] and compositions for Jewish ceremonies, written under the influence of rock music [7] ; Kingsley has repeatedly performed as conductor and arranger of a number of Broadway musicals [8] . Kingsley’s work was honored with two Clio awards, a Tony prize nomination for Best Conductor and Musical Director [9], and a special prize from the Bob Moog Foundation [10] .

In 2016, Gershon Kingsley appeared on the screen in the Popcorn International Animation Jam session, shot on his eponymous tune and timed to coincide with the II Icarus National Animation Award ceremony .
