History
- April 3, 1814 - was formed in Versailles by the adjutant general Prince Vasilchikov from officers and lower ranks of the army cavalry , especially distinguished in the Patriotic War, under the name Horse-Jaeger regiment (consisting of 4 squadrons) (VP March 19, 1814).

Since December 15, 1919, the regiment squadron was part of the Consolidated Guards Cavalry Regiment of the 1st Cavalry Division and the Consolidated Cavalry Brigade, and upon arrival in Crimea from April 16, 1920 became the 8th squadron of the Guards Cavalry Regiment. The regiment lost 12 officers in the White Movement (6 shot, 5 killed and 1 died of illness). The regimental association in exile for 1951 totaled 28 people.
Barracks in Old Peterhof
On July 3, 1898, the upcoming redeployment of the Life Guards of the Dragoon Regiment to Peterhof, which had so far lodged in Novgorod Province, was announced. For this purpose, stone barracks were erected for 5 years in Old Peterhof on a meadow parallel to Yurkevich boulevard [3] . By 1902, a military town was built in Old Peterhof, occupying a vast area. The conditions for lodging in it were quite good at that time.
βOn September 1, 1902, the Life Guards Dragoon Regiment solemnly entered Peterhof, where they arranged a warm meeting for the horse-grenadiers, ulans, Peterhof authorities and residents. <...> The chief of the regiment at that time was the commander in chief of the Russian guard and the St. Petersburg military district, Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich. The first regimental holiday in Peterhof near the dragoons took place on March 19, 1903, it was attended by Emperor Nicholas II β [4] and the Sovereign Empress Alexandra Fedorovna [5] .
In 1922, the First Military Railway Petrograd School was placed in the barracks of the Dragoon Regiment to train command personnel.
Since 1997, the Military Transport University of the Railway Troops of the Russian Federation has been located in the barracks. [6] Based on the Decision of the Executive Committee of the Leningrad City Council of July 16, 1990, No. 608, the barracks buildings are included in the βList of Cultural Heritage Sites in St. Petersburgβ as objects of regional significance.
St. Chrysanthus and Daria Regimental Church
On September 10, 1904, the new regimental church of St. Chrysanthus and Daria was consecrated: architect N. M. Nikiforov .
The consecration of the temple took place βin the presence of Emperor Nicholas II, Empress Alexandra Fedorovna, commander of the 2nd Guards Cavalry Division of Grand Duke Dmitry Konstantinovich, Commander-in-Chief of the Guards, St. Petersburg Military District and Chief of the Regiment of Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich Grand Duchess Vladimir Vladimirovich Grand Duchess Vladimir Vladimirovich , Boris Vladimirovich, Peter Nikolaevich and George Mikhailovich, their numerous retinue, generals and clergy, led by Protopresbyter A. The temple, which seats 700 people, was built of red brick, with a two-headed dome, and a high bell tower above the entrance. The church was built in the Byzantine style, the colored stained glass windows are made in the Romanesque style, the artistically executed iconostasis is carved from oak. Images of the evangelists were placed in the royal gates, above the gates - the image of the Last Supper, and on the sides - the icons of the Savior and the Mother of God. The church housed an icon depicting four Moscow saints celebrated on October 5th.
The decoration of the church (stained glass and altarpiece) was donated to the church by the wife of the regiment commander, well-known philanthropist Countess N.F. Karlova .
