Phosphoproteins

Phosphoproteins are complex proteins containing, as a prosthetic group, covalently bound phosphoric acid residues that are attached post-translationally to a protein. Hydroxyl groups of serine or threonine are involved in the formation of ester bonds with phosphate, phosphoproteins are, in particular, milk casein [1] .
