Biography
He studied in Naples at the Conservatory of San Pietro a Mayella with Francesco Durante and Leonardo Leo . [1] In 1748-1752 he was the conductor of Italian opera companies in London, and in 1752-1756 in Paris, where his activities coincided with the Buffon War . A number of operas created on the plots of comedies by Carlo Goldoni and on the libretto by Pietro Metastasio . His music was repeatedly used in the English pasticho - “ Summer Fiction ” ( Eng. A Summer's Tale ; 1765), “ Lionel and Clarissa ” ( Eng. Lionel & Clarissa ; 1768), “ Prisoner ” ( Eng. The Captive ; 1769). He also wrote sacred music and instrumental works.
