Story
Having completed his anthropological research, full of confidence, Paul Dedalou is returning from Turkmenistan to his native France , where he is met at the airport by special forces and an agent of the national security service, who presents his passport with his counterpart, who died two years ago in Australia , demanding an explanation. This prompts to turn to the past of the Field. He recalls his childhood in Roubaix, the attacks of his mother’s madness, the connection that united him with his brother Ivan. He recalls how he was sixteen, and his father became a inconsolable widower. He recalls his student years in Paris and his acquaintance with Dr. Beganzin, his growing interest in anthropology. Among his memoirs is a conspiratorial trip to Soviet Minsk , where he, along with his passport, gave his name to a Jewish refusenik . And, of course, Paul recalls Esther - the love of his life ...
