Bechku - a pass in the Crimean mountains , on the Kordon-Bair ridge (western spur of the Ai-Petrinskaya Yayla ), between the peaks of Karaul (761 m high) and Bechka (aka Lysaya , 798 m) [2] . The regional highway 35Н-067 Golubinka - Peredovoye - Shirokoye [3] (according to Ukrainian classification - S-0-10229 [4] ) connecting the Baidar Valley with the Belbek River Valley passes through the pass. A popular tourist destination, the nodal point of many tourist routes [5] .
Historical background
In the XIX century, the pass was called Hamilsky - this is mentioned by Eduard Ivanovich Totleben in the second volume of the work “Description of the defense of Sevastopol was compiled under the leadership of Adjutant Totleben” in connection with the “ Oklobzhio case ” [6] . Igor Belyansky, a specialist in Crimean place names, cited various options for the name of the pass: Bёchko-Kaya, Böchi, Bučünde-haya [7] , at the end of the 20th century another name became widespread - Kabany [5] [2] , the origin of which has not yet been established.
