Known as the half of the author (songwriter) duo of Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil. Together with her husband Barry Mann, she worked for Don Kirshner's music publishing company Aldon Music . which was located in the famous Britt Building in New York, stuffed with music companies [3] .

Usually she wrote poetry, and her husband Barry Mann wrote music [3] .

In the 1960s, they wrote hits together such as “On Broadway”, “Uptown” [3] and “ You've Lost That Lovin 'Feelin' ” (“the song most frequently aired on the air in the 20th century”) [4 ] .

The music site AllMusic writes:

With his stories about social issues and poetic vignettes denouncing the hypocrisy of the American class system , Weil was recognized as one of those pioneering songwriters who took rock poetry out of [just] stories about a lost lover and children's love with rhymes like "Moon — june".

Then (after the 60s) Mann and Weil continued to write songs together for decades. They wrote for Dolly Parton , Mom Cass , James Ingram , Linda Ronstadt , Aaron Neville and many other famous performers [3] .

Of the songs that Cynthia Weill did not write with Barry Mann, “ Running with the Night ” by Lionel Richie , “ Through the Fire ” by Chucky Han, and number 1 hit on Martina McBride’s American country charts “ Wrong Again ” [3] .

In 1987, Mann and Weil were admitted to the Songwriters Hall of Fame and received two Grammys , one of which in the category “Best Song” for the song “ Somewhere Out There ” [3] .
