Biography

Born February 12, 1935.

In 1957, he graduated from the Moscow Institute of Petroleum named after I.M. Gubkin , and in 1958, he graduated from the Mechanics and Mathematics Department of Moscow State University .

In 1961, he defended his thesis for the degree of candidate of physical and mathematical sciences.

In 1965 - 1982, he was a senior researcher in the Special Sector of the Institute of Physics of the USSR Academy of Sciences.

In 1966 he defended his thesis for the degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences, and he was awarded the title of professor.

Postdoc of Johns Hopkins University (USA, 1974).

Created a laboratory of geomechanics (No. 104) and was in charge of it in 1992 - 2005 [1] .

From 1996 to 1997, he worked at the International Commission on Geomechanics, which inspected the sustainability and ecology of the atolls of the French nuclear test site in the Pacific Ocean, and then - in the hydrodynamics department of the Institute of Mechanics of the USSR Academy of Sciences.

He led joint research in VNIIpromtekhnologii, Moscow Engineering Physics Institute, at the Russian State University named after I. M. Gubkina, at the Institute of Petroleum and Petroleum Sciences RAS, Lukoil, as well as at international oil companies - Arco, Shell, Agip and Schlumberger.

Member of the Editorial Board of the international journal Transport in porous media.

Scientific activity

Published over 250 scientific papers.

The main scientific results relate to mathematical modeling of natural and technological processes in the section of Earth sciences.

He developed theories of accelerated transport of impurities in underground streams, the mechanics of oil and gas strata, the removal of sand from wells, flows of gas condensate mixtures, seismic of saturated rock masses, dilatancy in the theory of underground explosion and construction, the theory of fractured stratification of the earth's crust, the theory of mesoscale turbulence, nonlinear seismology , the theory of tectonic waves (including rotations in the system of blocks of the crust), the basics of the theory of vibration effects on oil recovery.

Teaching activities

He taught at IISS, Moscow Oil and Gas University of Gubkin, at MIPT.

Prepared 40 doctors and candidates of sciences.

For 15 years he was an expert at the Higher Attestation Commission.

He lectured at universities abroad.

Awards, recognition

  • Member of the Russian National Committee on Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (since 1972).
  • Member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers USA,
  • Since 1993 - academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences .
  • Prize named after I. M. Gubkin (2013) - for the author's collection "Geomechanics"
