Polish Society of Rationalists

Polish Society of Rationalists ( Polish: Polskie Stowarzyszenie Racjonalistów ) (acronym: POR / PSR ) is a society of philosophical, scientific, ideological and ethical nature, which unites a person with a rationalistic worldview . It arose on the basis of a virtual community gathered around the portal Racjonalista.pl. The society was founded and was its first chairman Mariusz Agnosevich . POR was included in the KRS (registration court in Poland) on July 6, 2005. PTR is a member of the Polish Humanist Federation and the International Humanist and Ethical Youth Union (IHEYO) . In December 2010, the Society numbered about 230 members. 2005-2006 public administration created difficulties in registering the Company. On April 26, 2005, an application for registration with KRS was drawn up, first accepted frequently, and then on November 23, 2005, after protests by the City Council in Wroclaw, the court refused registration. The company won the appeal and was finally entered on the register on November 10, 2006 [1] .

Goals

The statutory goals of the Company [2] :

  1. to unite and integrate the Polish rationally tuned environment into associations capable of social development and the strengthening of independent and critical thought, mental and scientific cognition and explanation of the world around;
  2. to develop and promote a worldview based on scientific knowledge, intelligence, experience and secular and humanistic ethics;
  3. develop tolerant relationships, combat prejudice and support the ideas of an open society;
  4. fight the spread of harmful stereotypes that affect the restriction of individual development of a person and act for the sake of freedom of unit within the framework of this law;
  5. popularize science and scientific methods; to protect the pattern of science in society before modern attempts to discredit and deform it; to promote the social significance of science and raising its public priority;
  6. act for the development of the information society ;
  7. act to eliminate the influence of irrational ideologies on state legislation , the development of science, artistic activity and morality ;
  8. act for the separation of the church from the state and the ideological neutrality of the state;
  9. protect the interests of members of the Society, within the framework of their capabilities, from ideological, political and social pressure, which limits the freedom of thought and action and the development of science, culture and art; to support and protect persons who are directly or indirectly discriminated against, mainly due to their worldview, sexual orientation , nationality , race , ethnic origin and gender , and also to help people to exercise their rights;
  10. to promote a creative, active, social and civic position; act for the development and realization of the interests, knowledge and intellectual offerings of its members.
