Biography
Born March 18, 1938 in the village. Izovka Kolyvan district of the Novosibirsk region in the family of an employee.
In 1952, he graduated from the 7th grade of a junior high school.
In 1956, he graduated from the Novosibirsk Geological Exploration College, then was sent to the Sovkhozvodostroi Novosibirsk Trust, where he received the position of a shift drilling foreman.
He served in the army, after the end of the army he joined the SNIIGGiMS as a junior technician.
In 1968 - graduated from the correspondence geological and geographical faculty of TSU , worked as a geologist, senior engineer.
In 1975, he graduated from part-time postgraduate study, defending a Ph.D.
Leading researcher, was elected by competition to the post of head of the Mesozoic and Cenozoic stratigraphy and paleontology sector.
In 1996, he defended his doctoral dissertation and was appointed to the position of chief research fellow.
He died on December 29, 2000.
Scientific activity
One of the leading specialists in the stratigraphy of Meso-Cenozoic formations not only of the West Siberian Plain, but also of Eastern Siberia.
The scientific work was mainly related to the department of stratigraphy and paleontology, in which stratigraphists and paleontologists conducted their studies taking into account complex methods - lithology, paleontology, sedimentology, geophysics, paleogeography, using a number of new methods of partitioning and correlation of sections aimed at restoring the details of historical the development of the earth's crust in certain geological eras.
In 1968, he participated in the compilation of the Atlas of lithological and paleogeographic maps of the USSR, and then in the justification of the new Kopievsky Formation of the Middle Oligocene of the West Siberian Lowland and in the determination of continental analogues of the marine paleogene in the south of the West Siberian Plain.
He participated in the compilation of a map of the latest tectonics of Western Siberia, and began research related to age-related glide of the Cretaceous suites. In close collaboration with his first supervisor at the institute I. G. Zaltsman in the early 1970s. developed the stratigraphic basis of the Mesozoic formations of the Kulunda steppe; singled out the Kulundinsky iron ore district; gave the first idea of the history of geological development and paleogeography of the Kulundinskaya plain in the Mesozoic; established zonality in the structure of its Upper Cretaceous and Oligocene deposits.
In 1972, he established the most important stages in the formation of the platform cover of the southern part of the West Siberian Lowland, and characterized the tectonic structures of the Meso-Cenozoic formations of this territory. From the content of his work, it was possible to conclude that he preferred studies related to regional geology relative to the Cretaceous and Cenozoic formations, but already in the second half of the 1970s. his first developments on the Triassic deposits of the north of Central Siberia appeared.
Together with other experts, he worked out the problem of facies of the Tyumen Formation; revealed stratigraphic signs of oil and gas potential of the Early Mesozoic basins of Siberia; conducted a new indexation of the “U” group formations in the Lower Middle Jurassic deposits of Western Siberia, based on more detailed studies of litho-stratigraphic complexes; developed the principles of regional stratification of intraregional and marginal sedimentation basins; determined the sequence of formation of oil and gas deposits of the lower and middle Jurassic of the West Siberian Plate, paying special attention to the Tomsk region.
He also joined in the development of problems directly related to the search for oil and gas horizons and the determination of the nomenclature of productive formations, the justification of the search for hydrocarbon deposits in the Lower Middle Jurassic deposits of the West Siberian Plate, paying attention to the deep structure of the earth's crust and oil and gas geological zoning.
Co-author and editor of the volume “Triassic System” and author of the volume “Jurassic System” in two large collective monographs of the nine-volume series “Stratigraphy of Siberian oil and gas basins” (2000, 2002).
The author and co-author of more than 100 works, significantly expanding the idea of the structure of the Mesozoic formations of Siberia.
Member of the Scientific Council of the SNIIGGiMS, deputy chairman of the section of the Scientific Council of this institute for regional geology, member of the MSC commission on the Triassic system, member of the bureau and chairman of the Mesozoic section of SibRMSK, member of the dissertation council D 002.50.02 at the OIGGiM SB RAS, deputy chairman of the West Siberian Branch of the Scientific Editorial Board of Roskomnedra, member of the Production Commission of the MK Department of Stratigraphy and Paleontology.
Rewards
- Prize named after I. M. Gubkin (together with V. S. Surkov , L. V. Smirnov , 2007, posthumous) - for the monograph “Geological structure and oil and gas potential of the Lower-Middle Jurassic of the West Siberian province”
