Story
The film begins at that moment, where the film Marius ends - Cesar ( Remus ) hands Fanny ( Oran Demazi ) to her mother’s house and there he learns that his son Marius ( Pierre Freinet ) went to the five-year voyage across the Indian Ocean on a scientific ship. A month later, Cesar is waiting for the first letter from Marius. When it finally arrives, he pretends to his friends that this is indifferent to him, but he rushes to read him as soon as they go beyond the threshold. Cesar dictates Fanny answer.
Panisso again asks Honorina for the hand of her daughter. Fanny tells Panisso that she cannot marry him, because she is already pregnant by Marius, which he did not know about, going on a voyage. Panisso is delighted and rejoices at the premonition that he can get a “finished” child as a dowry: he was never able to make the baby his first wife. Thus, the marriage agreement has been reached, and Fanny, although he does not like Panisso, is grateful to him, since he asks her one thing - to convince everyone that it is he, Panisso, who is the father of the child. Learning about the upcoming marriage, Cesar is frantic, but Panisso and Fanny manage to convince him that there is no other way out. Cesar will be the godfather of the child.
Fanny gives birth to a boy. Marius returns much earlier than his due, as his ship was wrecked. After meeting Fanny, he quickly realizes that this is his child. He confesses to Fanny that he pities her more than he himself suspected; the sea no longer attracts him so much. Fanny, in turn, does not hide that she has always loved him and thought about him. In the scene of a general explanation, Panisso agrees to give Fanny freedom if she wishes, but does not want to give up the child she loves. Not finding allies in his father, he condemns his desire to take away his son from Panisso, and Marius again goes to sea.
