History
The construction of the temple took place from 1785 to 1806. The baroque gilded iconostasis with a height of 16 mestres was made in the workshop of Miklós Jankovits from the city of Eger , and 84 icons (of 88) were painted by the artist Anton Kuchelmeister from Vienna . The icon of the Mother of God “Akhtyrskaya” was donated to the church in 1782 by Empress Catherine II , who passed through Miskolc [1] .
The church is one of the protected architectural sites in Hungary. On February 1, 2017, the government of the country, headed by Prime Minister Viktor Orban, allocated funds for its restoration [2] .
