    History and Description

    At the initiative of the Department of Culture and Art of the Zimovnikovsky District and the support of the District Administration, in 2000, the Zimovnikovsky Museum of Local Lore was founded in the village of Zimovniki, Zimovnikovsky District, Rostov Region . For the museum, the building was transferred in the center of the village built in 1943. Earlier in this private house was a children's library, a club. The first expositions of the created museum consisted of departments of nature and history. The first director of the museum was I. Shkurdalova. Assistance in creating the museum was provided by Yu. V. Sorokin. Over the years, the directors of the museum were I. A. Eliseenko, E. I. Kozhemyachenko, V. G. Lushin, and M. G. Moiseenko. time the museum is led by Kazantseva Yu.S.

    Initially, the museum fund included exhibits from the school museums of the district and the collection of the military enlistment office. The inhabitants of the village who donated historical objects to the museum made their contribution. The first museum exposition was an exposition on the military history of the Zimovnikovsky district. With the help of the Ecology Fund of the Administration of the Zimovnikovsky District Administration, the museum created the exposition Flora and Fauna of the Sal River Basin. The exposition included herbariums of plants, stuffed birds, amphibians, reptiles, warm-blooded animals, and a collection of insects. The exposition on the ancient history of the region uses materials from archaeological excavations.

    In 2012, the museum moved to the building of the National Cultural Center, where it is located on the second floor. Exhibition halls were designed by V. Ye. Belousov, Director of the Children's Art School

    Over the years, the museum has collected about 5,900 exhibits, including items from the archaeological, paleontological, numismatic collections, and works of art. A major museum exhibit is the Soviet Merino breed sheep, the smallest item weighing 2 grams is the coin of the Khan of the Golden Horde Dzhanibek (XIV century). The museum has an exhibition hall where exhibitions from the museum funds and private collections are held. At one time, personal exhibitions of sculptor E. Derdiyashchenko, artists Padalka Yu. N., Lopansky A.A., Morozov V.V., an exhibition of works by teachers of the Children's Art School and others were held here.

" The museum organizes thematic excursions: Victory Day, Occupation Day and Day of the liberation of the village from Nazi invaders, Day of the formation of the district and the village, etc.

    The museum collaborates with other museums in the Rostov region. The collections of the Zimovnikovsky Museum of Local Lore were exhibited in museums of the cities of Zernograd , B.
