History and Description

On September 1, 1967, by the decision of the Executive Committee of the Council of People’s Deputies, the Museum of Labor and Battle Glory was created in the village of Yegorlykskaya, Yegorlyksky District, Rostov Region . The museum gathered exhibits on the history of the district and its inhabitants. The museum was located in the building of the District House of Culture. In the house of culture, the museum occupied three rooms and had a separate entrance. Over time, the organizational and legal form of the museum changed several times.

Since March 23, 2007, the museum was transformed into the municipal cultural institution "Yegorlyksky District Museum of Labor and Battle Glory." (Resolution of the Head of the Administration of the Egorlyksky District No. 163 of March 23, 2007).

In 2011, the type of the municipal culture institution of the Egorlyksky district “Egorlyksky district museum of Labor and Battle Glory” was transformed into the municipal budgetary institution of culture of the Egorlyksky district “Egorlyksky museum of local history”. (Decree of the Administration of the Egorlyksky District No. 1205 dated November 3, 2011).

Currently, the museum is the Municipal Budgetary Institution of Culture of the Egorlyksky District "Egorlyksky Museum of Local History (MBUK ER" Egorlyksky Museum of Local History "), the purpose of which is to ensure the spiritual needs of the population of the region.

The main areas of work of MBUK EP "Yegorlyk Museum of History and Local Lore" are the preservation and replenishment of the museum fund, the preservation of culture and local traditions.

The museum hosts exhibitions, tours, lectures, and talks are held on the culture of the Yegorlyksky district. The museum’s exposition includes photographs of the residents of the region - participants of the Great Patriotic War, weapons of the time, antique dishes, icons, samovars, paintings, Soviet symbols and much more.

Since 2013, the director of the Yegorlyksky Museum of History and Local Lore has been Dmitry Nikolaevich Sanin.
