Career
Juan Seminario began playing football at San Miguel College [2] . He began his professional career in the club “ Deportivo Municipal ”, in the main part of which he made his debut in a friendly game with “ Independente Medellin ” [2] . In 1959, the football player held talks with the Barcelona club, where Elenio Herrera wanted to see him, but the deal did not take place due to problems with the Spanish Football Federation, which could not register the player’s transition. The seminar asked Italian agent Diego di Leo, who lived in Peru, to help him find another team. He was able to reach the representatives of Real Zaragoza , but even then the deal did not take place. Then it was decided to find a third team and not from Spain [3] . The footballer still went to Europe , to the Lisbon Sporting . He was presented to the team on October 10 in the presence of 40 thousand spectators, and after 15 days he made his debut as a member of the club in a match with Belenensis (1: 0) [4] . For two years, the Seminario in the club, Sporting twice took second place in the national championship and once in the finals of the country's cup , where he lost to Belenenses. In total, the football player spent 52 matches for the club and scored 21 goals [5] . In mid-1961, Juan still moved to Zaragoza. In the very first season in Spain, the Peruvian striker scored 25 goals in 30 matches and won the Pichichi trophy , the first such prize in the history of Zaragoza players [6] . In the next season, Seminario held only 8 games, in which he scored 8 goals, of which four in the match with Mallorca . In total for Zaragoza, Juan Roberto spent 38 matches and 33 goals in the championship and 9 matches and 3 goals in the Spanish Cup [7] .
In November 1962, Juan Roberto moved to the Italian Fiorentina , which paid 20 million pesetas for the transfer of a football player [8] . As part of this club, the football player spent 52 games and scored 19 goals [9] . He became the top scorer of the Italian Cup 1963/1964, scoring 4 goals. In 1964, Seminario moved to Barcelona, where he was invited by the former coach of Zaragoza and the new coach of Barca, Cesar Rodriguez [3] . He became the team's top scorer in the Fairs Cup , where the Catalans came out only in the third round. During the tournament, “Barcelona” was able to knock out the former Seminario club, “Fiorentina”, and the player himself scored 2 goals in the away game and brought victory to his team [10] . A year later, the “blue garnet” won the trophy , but the Peruvian missed most of the season due to injury, and then because of a conflict with the team’s head coach, Roque Olsen [3] . In 1967 he left the club and joined the Sabadell . After that, the Seminario returned to his homeland. He played for Atletico Grau , then for Juan Aurich [11] [12] and the club Atletico Torino [13] [3] .
As part of the Peru national team, Seminario made his debut at the South American Championship in 1956, where he played 2 matches [14] . A year later, he participated in another championship of the South American continent , in which the Peruvians took third place, and Juan himself spent all 6 games and scored 1 goal (against Uruguay ) [15] . He also played at the tournament in Argentina two years later, where he also played all 6 matches and scored 2 goals, both in the first game with Brazil . Seminario was noted in the match with Uruguay, where already at the 37th minute of the meeting he received a red card . Juan Roberto played a major role in the match against England , which was beaten with a score of 4: 1, and the striker himself scored 3 goals of the Peruvians [16] . After leaving for Europe , Seminario, like other Peruvian players who played for European teams, ceased to be called up to the national team [17] . In 1969, he returned to Peru and was even invited to play again for the national team, but he refused, feeling injustice due to the fact that when he was in top form, he was not called. Because of this, the attacker did not get to the 1970 World Cup , which he later regretted very much [2] . In total, for the national team, Juan Seminario scored 6 goals in 19 meetings.
Personal life
Juan Seminario was married to the girls of Brena, whom he met at the age of 15 [2] . They had 4 children, Juan Carlos, Alejandro, Luis and the girl Gabriela [3] .
The seminar is very familiar with tennis player Rafael Nadal and his whole family: they lived in neighboring houses in Manacor . And Juan Roberto could observe all the formation of his career from 11 years old. Seminario also said that he was the first football coach of Uncle Rafael, a former Barcelona player, Miguel Наngel Nadal , with whom he has been friends for many years [2] [17] .
