Description
As a material for the manufacture of the monument was chosen bronze. The height of the monument reaches 2.2 meters [1] . According to the authors, the monument was made in the form of a woman who is dressed as a resident of the city of the XIX century. She draws water into a bucket from a water column [2] . This symbol was not chosen by chance - at that time, according to the established procedures, it was the woman who was responsible for providing the family with drinking water, so the appearance of a water supply system in the city significantly facilitated women's everyday tasks [1] . The monument was made in honor of the first water supply in the city, which was launched in 1865. Initiated the creation of the monument Rostov Vodokanal. One of the authors of the monument was the sculptor Sergey Oleshnya [3] .
According to the instructions of the mayor of Rostov, Mikhail Chernyshev, the grand opening of the monument to the first water supply in the city took place in August 2007. The opening ceremony was begun with a bright theatrical performance, costumed performances were demonstrated, the theme of which was the history of the first Rostov water supply system. The actor was acting, depicting Andrei Baykov , during which the city water supply began to work [2] . The opening was attended by the head of the Rostov city department of culture Lyudmila Lisitsina, executive director of the Russian Association of Water Supply and Sanitation Alexey Golovachev [3] .
