Kemi Church ( Fin. Kemin kirkko ) is an evangelical Lutheran church in the city of Kemi , Lappi Province , Finland . Built in the Neo - Gothic and national romanticism style, designed by Joseph Stenbeck in 1902 .
The church is made of concrete. The height of the bell tower is 44 meters. The stained glass windows of the church were mounted in 1986 . They depict the Trinity . A large crucifix is mounted on the altar wall.
The building accommodates up to 1,200 parishioners. In 2003, the church was repaired, the walls were restored with a historic pink-brick color and were opened for free visits by both local residents and tourists. Concerts of sacred and classical music are regularly held here. For this, a pneumatic organ manufactured in 1935 is installed inside.
In the immediate vicinity of the church is a memorial military cemetery, where 381 people are buried. At the wall of the church stands a monument to a praying soldier.
