Biography

Born in Cleveland, Ohio in the family of a construction worker and a housewife. The family was not rich, but Bill was brought up in love and care [2] . His cousin is the famous American actor James Baskett, who died in 1948 at the age of 44 from complications caused by diabetes mellitus [3] .

Bill Cobbs from a young age felt craving for acting. He played in the amateur theater. For eight years he was a radar technician of the USAF . After being discharged from the army, he was a salesman for office supplies at IBM and cars in his native Cleveland.

Only closer to the age of forty Cobbs ventured to move to New York in search of acting success. He was fortunate enough to become part of the Negro Ensemble Company troupe, and in 1974 he made his film debut - a small role in the action movie “ Capturing the Pelham Train 1-2-3 ” by popular director Joseph Sargent.

In 2006, he received the Trenton Film Festival Award for Best Voice Actor (for the film “ Elixir of Immortality ”).

In 2012, he played a role in the TV series “Start!” With Matthew Perry.

In his spare time, Cobbs enjoys music, reading and playing the drums.
